We were delighted this week to welcome Minister for State, Dara Murphy to our school. He was welcomed by our Students Council and they told him about all the things they like about our school. They also asked him to help make our school a better place by providing funding to modernise some of the older parts of the building.

Minister Murphy also spoke to our Board of Management, teachers and Parents Association. He visited Junior Infants and 2nd Class. He was very impressed by our school and acknowledged the great work being done by our school community. He promised to help us in anyway he could to get more resources for our school. We very much hope this happens sooner rather than later!

Our new school mural

This is our new school mural that has been painted out in the yard. Every class in the school got the opportunity to paint different parts of the picture.  Take a look at how it progressed from start to finish.

Well done to all of our Holy Communion Class who made their First Holy Communion on Saturday May 10th. They were excellent. Thank you to Fr. John Paul Hegarty for performing a beautiful ceremony and than you to our Parents Association for putting a wonderful party in our school afterwards. Pictured below are the class with Mr. Aherne and Louise Taaffe.IMG_1717

We made an experiment to show how mentoes and coke react with each other. We’ll leave it up to you to find out what happens when we added the mentoes to the coke. Hint: Look at the pictures. DSCN0724 DSCN0725 DSCN0726 DSCN0727 DSCN0729 DSCN0730 DSCN0733

Before Halloween we conducted a few experiments to keep with the theme of halloween.

We created a Magic potion using simple materials like Washing – up Liquid, vinegar and baking soda, also glitter to add that extra cool effect. Have a look at the pictures.

Then we made some slime (scientific name Ooblek) using Cornflour, water and a little food colouring. DSCN0713 DSCN0715 DSCN0716
