As you can see, Rang 3 have gone Viking mad!
We began by reading about Vikings and learned that they came to Ireland around a thousand years ago. We watched a very interesting video about why the Vikings left
their homeland of Scandinavia (Denmark,Norway and Sweden). They left their own countries because of a shortage of food and land, and they raided churches and monasteries along the coast of Ireland for their riches. We acted out these scenes in our drama class in the form of still images.
In art class we made a display based on the Vikings invading Ireland, the following week we made our own Viking helmets out of various materials.
Finally we learned about how slaves lived and were treated in Viking times and we
wrote a diary entry based on the life of a thrall(Viking Slave).
