The ‘Golden Boot’ award is a new initiative to encourage the pupils in Scoil Inse Rátha to use sustainable forms of travel when coming to school in the morning (e.g. walk, cycle, park and stride, carpool or travel by bus). A daily record is taken as to how each pupil from 1st– 6th class travel to school. The class that has the least amount of car usage at the end of every month will be presented with the ‘Golden Boot Award’. The ‘Golden Boot Award’ will be displayed in their classroom for a month and they will also receive a special prize. I am pleased to announce that Fourth Class were the January winners and the prize that they were given is getting homework off for one night during this month.
It is wonderful news that the number of cars used to travel to school has been greatly reduced by each class during the month of January. Keep up the great work everyone as a lot of classes came very close to being the winner. Also keep a close watch on this website to see which class will win the ‘Golden Boot Award’ in February.
