World Science Day in Junior Infants

Today was World Science Day, and to celebrate Junior Infants read Eric Carle’s book “The
Tiny Seed”. We discussed the different things that seeds need to grow into healthy plants. We learned that many plants and animals start to grow in Springtime, and then we went into the school garden to look for signs of Spring. However the most exciting thing we did today is we each planted our very own seed. We carefully filled out plantpots with compost, we furrowed a little hole in the centre and gently placed our seed in the pot. We covered the seed with earth and then watered it, to help it grow. We decided to put or plants near the window in our classroom so they can benefit from the sunshine. We will keep a close eye on our plants over the next few weeks, looking out for signs of growth…
